Terms of Service

Effective June 22, 20268 min read

These Terms govern your access to and use of Storyline, an AI career-articulation service operated by Vantum Works LLC (“Vantum”, “we”, “us”). Storyline is sold to you to help you put your own experience into professional words. By creating an account or using Storyline, you agree to these Terms.

What Storyline is

In short:You have a spoken conversation about your work, and Storyline turns what you share into a set of professional documents. It translates your experience into words — it doesn't grade you, and it doesn't make things up.

Storyline is a voice-first career-articulation tool. You have a guided spoken conversation about your work through your browser, and Storyline translates what you share into a complete set of documents — a resume, LinkedIn summary, professional bio, cover letter, interview talking points, and skills inventory. On the Plus and Pro plans, it can also tailor a resume and cover letter to specific jobs.

Storyline’s documents are produced by automated systems from what you tell it, for your own use. It translates your experience into professional language; it does not score, rate, rank, or assess you, and it is not a prediction or promise of any hiring outcome. We say more in Section 8.

The service is delivered through a web application. We may add, change, or remove features over time as the product evolves.

Eligibility and your account

In short:You must be 18+. You sign in with a one-time link sent to your email. Your account is for you alone.

You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding contract to use Storyline. Storyline is for your individual, personal use; it is not for resale and an account may not be shared.

You sign in with a one-time link sent to your email address — there is no password. You are responsible for keeping that email account secure and for all activity that occurs under your Storyline account. If you suspect unauthorized use, notify us promptly at support@vantumworks.io.

Purchases, payment, and expiry

In short:You buy one conversation up front; it comes with a full set of documents and an access window. If the window closes before you finish, we generate your documents from what you shared. No subscription.

  • One-time purchases. Storyline is sold as one-time purchases — not a subscription. Each purchase is one conversation plus the document suite it produces. Our current options are Storyline (one conversation and full suite, 30-day access, $29), Storyline Plus (the same, plus tailoring for up to 10 jobs and a tracker, 30-day access, $49), and Storyline Pro (plus tailoring for up to 25 jobs, 90-day access, $79). Prices, capacities, and windows may change; the price shown at checkout is the price that applies to that purchase.
  • Card collected at purchase. Payment is processed by our payment processor (Stripe) through a hosted checkout page. A valid payment method is required to make a paid purchase, and you can’t start a paid conversation without an available credit. We don’t receive or store your full card number.
  • Resumable across sittings. A conversation can be paused and resumed across multiple sittings within your access window — you don’t need to do it all at once.
  • Expiry, and what happens to your work. Your access window (currently 30 or 90 days depending on the plan) starts at purchase and is shown at checkout and in your account. If a conversation you’ve started is unfinished when the window closes, we automatically generate your document suite from what you shared so you don’t lose your work, and the purchase is settled. A credit you never use before it expires lapses, and expired credits are not refundable or extendable.
  • Free codes. We may issue codes that grant a free conversation. A free code is a grant we choose to make, subject to its own terms and any redemption limits, and may be changed or withdrawn at any time. It is not a discount on a paid purchase.
  • Discount codes. We may offer discount codes you can enter at checkout. Codes are subject to their own terms and may be changed or withdrawn at any time.
  • No “unlimited.” Every purchase is a fixed, published set of documents and (on the Plus and Pro plans) a fixed number of job tailorings. We do not market Storyline as unlimited.
  • Taxes. Listed prices don’t include taxes. You’re responsible for any applicable sales, use, VAT, or similar taxes, which may be added at checkout.

Refunds

In short:A conversation is a digital service delivered when you start it, so purchases are generally non-refundable — but we'll make it right if something on our end fails.

Because each conversation is a digital service delivered as soon as you begin it, your purchase is non-refundable except (a) where a refund is required by applicable law, or (b) where we choose to provide one — for example, if a technical failure on our side prevented your conversation from running or your documents from being produced. Unused credits that expire are not refundable or extendable.

Technical failures on our side. If a technical problem on our end stops a conversation from running or from producing your documents, we’ll first try to recover and resume it. If we can’t, that conversation won’t be counted against your purchase — the credit stays available so you can run it again.

If something didn’t work as it should, contact us at support@vantumworks.io and we’ll work with you to make it right.

Voice recording

In short:The conversation records your voice so Storyline can write your documents, and the audio is deleted after they're generated.

To run the conversation and produce your documents, Storyline records the audio of the conversation, including your voice, and creates a written transcript of it. By starting a conversation, you consent to this recording and processing for the purpose of running your session and generating your documents.

The audio is deleted after your documents are generated, and no human listens to it as part of the normal service. See the Privacy Policy for details.

Make sure you’re in a setting where it’s appropriate for you to speak out loud and be recorded. Don’t bring third parties into the session or capture other people’s voices without their consent.

Your words; no fabrication

In short:Storyline writes only from what you tell it. It won't invent facts — and that means it's on you to tell it the real story and to check your documents before you use them.

Storyline writes your documents from what you say in your conversation. Every claim in your documents is meant to trace back to something you actually told it. It will not invent metrics, job titles, employers, dates, or scope; where you don’t have a number, it describes your work in words rather than making one up.

Because your documents come from your own account of your experience, you are responsible for the accuracy of what you tell Storyline and for reviewing and editing your documents before you rely on or send them anywhere. You can edit every document, and you keep them.

Your content; our content

In short:You own what you put into Storyline and the documents you get out. We own Storyline itself. We don't train AI models on your content.

You retain ownership of the recordings, transcripts, the information you share, and the documents Storyline generates for you (“Your Content”). You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive license to host, process, transmit, and display Your Content as needed to provide and support the service to you and to enforce these Terms. The documents Storyline generates for you are yours to keep and use.

We don’t use Your Content to train AI models. Aggregated and de-identified usage statistics that can’t reasonably be linked back to you may be used to operate and improve the service.

We retain all rights in Storyline itself — the software, design, models, prompts, documentation, and trademarks. Nothing in these Terms transfers any of those rights to you.

AI output — no evaluation, no guarantees

In short:Storyline's documents are machine-generated and may be wrong. Storyline does not evaluate or score you, and it does not promise any hiring result.

Storyline’s documents are produced by automated language models. They may be incomplete, inaccurate, or not suited to your particular situation, and you should use your own judgment and edit them before relying on them. Storyline is not career, legal, employment, or other professional advice.

Privacy

In short:See the Privacy Policy. It's part of this agreement.

Our handling of personal information — including how we treat your audio, transcript, and the documents Storyline generates — is described in the Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms.

Third-party services

In short:Storyline relies on outside vendors for voice, AI, hosting, and payments. We pick them carefully but can't guarantee their uptime.

Storyline uses third-party providers for hosting, storage, voice transport, speech-to-text and text-to-speech, AI model inference, payments, and email. We choose these providers with reasonable care but aren’t responsible for outages, errors, or other issues caused by third-party services beyond our control.

Suspension and termination

In short:Either side can end this. We delete your data when you go, with narrow exceptions.

We may suspend or terminate your access to Storyline if you breach these Terms, if your use creates legal or security risk for us or other users, or if required by law. You may stop using Storyline and close your account at any time by contacting us.

On termination, we will delete Your Content as described in the Privacy Policy, subject to limited retention required for legal, accounting, or security purposes. Unless required by law, fees already paid and any remaining or expired credits are not refundable on termination.

Disclaimers

In short:Storyline is provided as is. Its output is automated draft material, not professional advice.

Storyline is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and any warranty arising out of course of dealing or usage of trade.

We don’t warrant that Storyline will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any output will be accurate, complete, or suitable for any particular purpose.

Limitation of liability

In short:Damages are capped at what you paid us in the past 12 months, or $100, whichever is greater.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, neither party will be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenues, data, or opportunities (including any job or offer), arising out of or relating to these Terms or the service — even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

Our total cumulative liability arising out of or relating to these Terms or the service will not exceed the greater of (a) the amounts you paid us for the service in the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) one hundred U.S. dollars ($100). Some jurisdictions don’t allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.

Indemnification

In short:If a third party comes after us because of how you used Storyline, you cover us.

You will defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Vantum and its officers, employees, and agents from and against any third-party claims, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of or related to Your Content, your use of the service, or your violation of these Terms or applicable law.

Governing law and disputes

In short:California law. Disputes go to courts in Los Angeles County.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the service will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Los Angeles County, California, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.

Either party may seek injunctive relief in any court of competent jurisdiction to protect its intellectual property or confidential information.

Changes to these Terms

In short:We may update these. Continued use after a material change means you accept it.

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we’ll revise the Effective Date above and, for material changes, take reasonable steps to notify you. Your continued use of Storyline after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

Miscellaneous

In short:Standard housekeeping: this is the whole agreement, severability applies, no informal waivers.

These Terms (together with the Privacy Policy) are the entire agreement between you and us regarding Storyline, and supersede any prior agreements on the same subject. If any provision is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in effect. Our failure to enforce any right is not a waiver of that right.

You may not assign these Terms without our prior written consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets.
